Message from the Representative Director

During my career as a biology researcher, I learned that the research in biomimetics ‒a field involving the study of living organisms and applying the principles observed to human manufacturing processes ‒ had started in the United States and Europe approximately 15 years ago. Since then, I have concentrated my research efforts on the field with the brief that advancement of biomimetics within Japan is absolutely crucial. In the course of research and development, I needed to observe the surface structures of living organisms. It required the organisms to be preserved as close to their living state as possible in subcellular sizes from nano to micron levels. This is how the NanoSuit® method was born in Japan. Using the NanoSuit® method, the living organisms are kept alive or the fixed specimens are moistened during the observation under an electron microscope. The pre-observation treatment is relatively simple; conductivity can be achieved in a short time, maintaining the morphological microstructure almost perfectly intact. In conjunction with the use of conventional methods, it brings new perspectives to existing knowledge, allowing researchers to gain deeper insights in the field of life science. Not only can they observe a whole organism and its tissues under an electron microscope, they can also observe cells and biological microparticles such as viruses and exosomes. We have successfully performed image analyses on organisms’ diverse element distributions using EDS. In addition, the ability to create pinhole-free self-supporting membranes is another fascinating aspect of the NanoSuit technology. NanoSuit Inc. was established with the commitment of developing the NanoSuit® method with our partners to contribute to a wide range of areas including health, medical, beauty, and food. We will thrive as a company that can contribute to the society.
